Isn't it just the most frustrating thing in the world when you think you're on the path to the correct answer to your algebra problem, but then you realized you failed to see a minus sign or you remembered a formula wrong? It can take you in an entirely wrong direction.
This reminds me of a talk given in an LDS general conference session that spoke about a baggage car getting misrouted hundreds of miles due to one slight switch in the track.
Life is fully of turning points, large and small. My recent turning point involves a resolve to change certain aspects of my life. I will leave it at that for now. I am excited to see what the future holds with this new change in direction.

A Trial of Patience
Yesterday when I came home from work, I found a ticket on my car. I took the train to work that day so I left my car parked on the street in front of my house. What was the purpose of this ticket? I was being cited because the sticker that displays the month of my registration had faded. Really? REALLY?! I knew it had faded, but what was I supposed to do about it? It wasn't my fault. I tried getting a new sticker at the time I renewed my registration, but they didn't have any. (I renewed at JiffyLube). So now I'm stuck with a $30.00 ticket for something that was out of my control. I would fight the ticket, but I have to work during the only hours they are open.
And so, the ticket has been paid and on my way home I will rush to the DMV before they close to get a new sticker. Its moments like this that really test my ability to remain calm.
The End.

Mothers, Daughters & Shoes
This morning my mom called me and asked if I'd like to have lunch with her. She also said she had a special surprise for me, which she wouldn't divulge until lunch time. She arrived shortly before my break. We feasted on yummy sandwiches. She then took me out to her car and told me the surprise. She was going to take me to buy new shoes for my brother's wedding. I was so thrilled. I'd been wanting to get something new and fun to wear, but I've been working so hard to save my money and have been reluctant to spend any on myself.
We found a perfect pair, and even got a bonus! There was an adorable pair of black shoes that she bought me to wear to work. They were such a great deal that she got her a pair too! They were only $10!
I love my mom. She is the best mom I could ever ask for. She loves me so much and I love her more than I could ever say. Here's to moms!

Social Faux Pas
Who was it that decided what situations must be viewed as awkward and uncouth? Perhaps it comes naturally. All I know is that I am quite good at putting myself in awkward and uncomfortable situations, within reason. I love juxtaposing people including myself into seemingly unbearable situations due to hidden knowledge, or sometimes known. Let me share some examples to bring light to that of which I speak.
First, back story: Last year I dated a guy, we'll call him Devon for the sake of anonymity. Our relationship was short-lived but memorable. We had been friends for a long while previous and thanks to that background we were able to maintain a decent friendship of sorts. Fast forward a few weeks after we broke up. I was set up on a date with a guy we'll call Brian. Turns out Brian and Devon are best friends from high school. It didn't seem like that big of a deal to tell Brian that I dated Devon, so I never brought it up. After my first date with Brian he later found out about Devon and was pretty upset that I didn't tell him. I have no idea how he found out.
Okay so here is the story, once Brian found out about Devon I racked my brain to think who could have told him, as he only found out hours after our mid-day date. Here's the catch, Devon knew I was going on a date with Brian. Word moves fast. I called Brian to talk to him about why I didn't tell him. He answered the phone but said he was eating dinner and asked if he could talk to me later. So then I called Devon. I asked him if he had seen Brian lately, he said, "Yes, actually, he's sitting across from me eating dinner.".
Story #2, Last night was Devon's wedding reception. I debated going but circumstances put me in a situation where I had the time to go and I was nearby, so I decided to just do it. I waited forever in the long line. I didn't know anyone in the line around me. I secretly thought to myself, if only these people knew who I was....
More back story: Devon and I dated in May 2010. We got so far as hand holding (I was the first girl he ever held hands with). That all ended around Memorial Day. We dated again July 2011. Devon kissed me right when we first started dating. (I was the first girl he ever kissed).
Okay, back to the reception. I'm standing with a bunch of strangers who have no idea my real connection to the groom. I considered introducing myself to Devon's new in-laws as the ex-girlfriend, but I know that would be far beyond boundaries that even I don't cross. All went well. I introduced myself to the bride's parents as a friend. Devon and his bride were gracious and kind. Devon's parents were awkwardly kind, which is understandable. THEY know who I am.
Brian was at the wedding reception too. I mean, why not right? I is one of Devon's best friends after all. Brian didn't say a word to me. That is alright though. I get it.
I may share more of these types of stories if for nothing else to document my crazy social experiences. Despite the awkwardness, I find humor in it all. It gives me a good laugh.
