Face Lift

Last week I inherited an old filing cabinet. I needed it for filing purposes, but I didn't want it to diminish the awesomeness of my room with it's dingy appearance, so, I made it girly. I went to the local craft store and selected some scrapbook paper. Using a mixture of water and glue I adhered the paper to the cabinet. Photos below.

Winter Solstice

Today is somewhat significant. It is the first official day of winter, the shortest day of the year, and...the end of the world right? I guess not. Well that was close! Here's to many more years to come! Happy Winter!

11 days

In eleven days I will celebrate another birthday. Funny how when you get older each year seems to pass by faster and faster.

In reflection of this past year I'd like to review how I did on my resolutions.

I had a desire to become emotionally and spiritually grounded. I can honestly say this has improved. I am a lot more stable and rational than I used to be. I still have my freak out moments, but for the most part I feel like I am more steady. This is due to several factors. I have actively striven to improve this area. I am a lot better at daily scripture study and pondering. There's always room for improvement, but that is why we have time here on earth, to improve.

My other resolution was to learn to be happy during the trials that come. This has improved drastically this year. Part of the reason for this is because I have made a daily effort to write down the things that make me happy in life. I've learned to appreciate the tender mercies given to me each day by my Heavenly Father. The transformation has been incredible. Though I still have days where I am sad, it doesn't keep me down. I'm much more able to pull myself out of the slump and move forward with faith.

I haven't decided on next year's resolutions yet, but I will be pondering the subject over the next eleven days.  Stay tuned.

Contact Lenses

I've taken the plunge to go frameless. Yesterday I put a tiny plastic bowl in my eye for the first time ever. Getting it in there was no easy task. At one point I was reduced to tears. I couldn't tell if it was the irritation of my eyes or my complete frustration with something seemingly so easy being so hard. I almost gave up.
I kept persisting and finally had success with eye one. Eye two came quickly thereafter. Once I got them in, I was told to take them out. Easy right? No. Several more tries ensued and finally I was able to successfully remove one of them. I cleaned it off and put it back in and I was on my way.
Today is day two sporting the unseen masters of vision. They're taking some getting used to. Hopefully I'll be a pro before long.

Look closely. Can you see them? No? I get the feeling that's the general idea.
