Coming Soon!

Four weeks ago I was sealed to my husband, Lance Fry. It was one of the best days of my life. I can hardly believe so much time has flown by since that amazing day.

Lance and I decided we would combine our creative efforts and create a family blog. The blog URL has been selected, and ideas are on the drawing board, we are working on getting it up and going.

So stay tuned for the family blog to be unveiled soon.

15 days

Just over two weeks remain until I marry my sweetheart. The man of my dreams. Though I am very anxious for that to occur, my mind is somewhat preoccupied with school and work. I must get through those first before I can turn my attention to that blessed day.

The countdown continues....

Sleep

I often wondered what I looked like when I sleep. Thankfully now I have a fiancé who finds great delight in taking pictures of me while I snooze.

Life has been intensely busy lately. I can't remember the last time I had a huge block of time with nothing to do. Being busy is good, but sometimes it brings me to the point of exhaustion, hence this picture which was regrettably taken during the Saturday afternoon session of the LDS General Conference.

In exactly 24 days, my world is going to change. The change will start to take affect slightly before then. In 16 days my time as a teller will come to a close. This change is coming with mixed emotions. The entirety of this blog has been composed while I've been a teller, and now that title will no longer be mine. It is my intent to start a new family blog with the creation of the Fry family.

Once my time as a teller is over, I will have a short respite before taking on my new role, that of Mrs. Fry. Housewife extraordinaire. I intend to spend the summer legally changing my name, planting a garden, researching family history, decorating, cooking, cleaning, reading, sewing, training for a half marathon, and of course, SLEEPING.

Come fall I will add another hat to my job description. Full-time Student. That's right. I'm going to finish my degree once and for all. I'm transferring to UVU. My goal is to finish in 4 semesters going straight through. I can't wait to be taking daytime classes again. These night time classes are killing me.

So there you have it. Now you know the game plan in my mind. I am sure it won't be exactly as I imagine. I have a feeling it will be even better. The longer I know my future husband, the more excited I am to be his wife. Bring on the married life!

Denver

This past weekend my man and I went for a weekend getaway to the great state of Colorado to visit his sister and her family. It was quite the adventure!

Getting ready to fly out of Salt Lake City to Denver Colorado.

Getting ready to see all the animals at the Zoo.

Lions!

Fun at the Zoo

You can tell how much excitement there was at the Easter Egg Hunt.

Sunshine! The weather was gorgeous!

Red Rock Amphitheater. Some of the greats have sung here. Just don't ask me who because I can't remember....

Nap time! He's so handsome.

Climbing on the rocks near the amphitheater.

More at the Easter Egg Hunt.

More climbing.

So...as we were heading for the airport Sunday night we got a call saying our flight was delayed. Awesome. When we got to the airport we were informed our flight was cancelled. So, Lance and I each got our own suite at the Spring Hill Marriott.  We were pretty sad not to get home, but the accommodations were awesome.

Waiting at the terminal for our 6:10AM flight. We were up at 3:40AM to catch our 4:00AM shuttle to the airport. Consolation? Flying first class. Oh yeah.

All in all it was an awesome getaway. I loved meeting Lance's sister and her family. Easter was fabulous, the weather was perfect and the company couldn't have been better.

Once upon a time I wished for a handsome prince...

My life has taken quite a turn in the last two months. I'm still trying to catch up with all the new plans and changes which will be taking affect very soon.

I am completely irrevocably in love with Lance. I've known him long enough to know that I don't want to even think about spending my life without him.

The other day I decided to start practicing my new signature. Thankfully it isn't all that different from my current signature....all I have to do is squish it down, drop a few letters and add a new one. I think it's looking quite nice. The picture below is a bit too stylized, but I had fun playing around with it.

There are so many little things about Lance that make up the whole of the man I am in love with. Every day I fall more in love with him. He treats me like a queen. He gives the best hugs in the world. He smiles at me. He inspires me to do great things. He supports me in my dreams. He's amazing with children. He bakes! He's clean and tidy. He works hard. He's thoughtful. I could go on and on.

Once upon a time I wished for a handsome prince to come. He has come. He is far more than I could have ever dreamed possible. I cannot wait to marry him and start our life together.

The Tale of the Invisible Contact

One night as I was taking out my contact lenses for the day I ran into a problem. I could not get the contact out of my right eye. After several tries, I skipped to my left eye and got that one out with no issues. The right contact just wouldn't come out. I stared hard into the mirror to see if it had gotten moved to a different part of my eye. It appeared to be lodged in the inside corner of my eye. No matter how many times I tried, I just couldn't get a hold of it.

I called my fiancé to ask his advice. He offered several suggestions, which were all good, they just didn't work. He suggested that it probably fell out. For some reason I refused to believe it. I felt totally helpless and was a complete mess.

I woke up my mother, by this time it was nearing 1:00AM. She tried her best but couldn't get a hold of it. I sent her back to bed and with tear soaked eyes tried desperately to get it out. Finally, after my eye had become totally red and swollen from pinches and jabs, I went to bed.

The next morning I tried again with no luck. It was then that I decided it must have fallen out of my eye. There must be no contact in there at all. Later as I was blowdrying my hair, I spotted something on the bathroom floor. Sure enough, it was my contact. It must of fallen off my fingers from the very first try and I never noticed.

It took three days of wearing glasses to let my poor eye heal from it's beating. What have I learned from all of this? A contact would never be THAT hard to get out. I have no idea what I thought I saw. I think our minds are a little too good at letting us see what we believe to be true.

The End.

Insurance Company Rant

Why is it that sometimes I feel like I missed some important class on certain information I am expected to know as a grown up?

Recently I had to visit a dermatologist for a skin condition on my hands. All seemed to be going fine. I paid my co-pay, saw the doctor and got my prescription. I though all was well until I got to the pharmacy. Apparently my insurance was listed as secondary. The pharmacy tech asked me if I had any other insurance. I don't. I was told I needed to contact my insurance company to find out what was going on. So I paid the full cost of the prescription and left.

I went out to my car and began making phone calls. I was informed by my insurance company that I needed a "Letter of Credible Coverage" from my old insurance company proving that I'm not doubly insured. Why did nobody tell me this? I haven't had that other insurance for almost two years.

I called my old insurance company and spoke to a very nice lady who told me she would fax over the letter directly to my current insurance company, and she'd send me a hard copy. Okay awesome. I emailed my current insurance company and told them they should have the letter.

Two emails later I was informed that the information was received and my account had been updated. So I took my prescription back to the pharmacy (unopened) and asked them to run it again using my "updated" information. Again, I was told my insurance was listed as secondary. Seriously??  I was too fed up to deal with it so I returned the prescription for a refund and decided to go without.

Well, the problem on my hands is persisting, so I have decided to give the prescription another go. I called my insurance company again to see if maybe it was just a timing issue (even though I was told specifically my account had been updated). When I called the insurance company this morning, guess what? It wasn't updated. Are you kidding me? I told the rep that my letter had been faxed over a week and a half ago.

She contacted enrollment and sure enough, the letter had been received. She told me that the information would be updated by this afternoon and I could go get the prescription. I asked her how I would know for sure that it had been updated. She said I could call and ask for her specifically.

And so I will try again. I find it completely unprofessional and flat out unacceptable to inform someone that something has been taken care of when it hasn't.

The End.

It all began with the click of a mouse...

The title of my blog is Teller of Tales. This tale will be told from my perspective.

On December 20, 2012 I was chatting with a co-worker about my dating life. I was expressing my frustrations about how there seemed to be no eligible men between the ages of 25-30 crossing my path. I had resigned myself to dating younger guys, which was not exactly something I wanted, but it seemed the only option. He asked me if I'd ever considered online dating. I had thought about it in the past but never pursued it. Something inside me fought against it. I consider myself to be an old fashioned sort of girl. I like the classic romance. Apparently my reasons were weak because my friend did not let the subject go. He shared a story of his brother who had stayed single well past his 20s and had a hard time finding girls to date due to being so busy with school and work. The story rang true with me because I am in similar circumstances. My friend suggested a dating site called ldslinkup. He knew I am a thrifty person, and this particular site is free to use.

I'm not sure what finally made me cave. Perhaps it was this feeling inside of me that I was not doing all in my power to find someone to marry. And so, I went to the website, signed up, posted a picture and a few details about myself, which felt like a self proclaimed marketing campaign, but that's beside the point. The next five days were the most intense days of my life. (dating wise) I had messages coming in constantly. I felt like I was being bombarded. I had no idea what the etiquette was for this new realm. Was I supposed to respond to everyone that messaged me? If they were interested, and I was too, what next? Is it okay to give out phone numbers? Is it okay to let them add me on Facebook? This was a whole new experience for me.

After those first few days I finally whittled down a few options and got some dates set up. The very first date from someone online was slightly disappointing. I quickly learned that getting to know someone through email and text can give you a completely different picture of who they really are.

Quick backtrack: December 21, 2012 I got a message from a guy with the username "Fryman". It was a simple, "Hello, how are you doing?" We messaged each other back and forth for a few days. He was out of town for Christmas but suggested we should get together when he got back to Utah. I liked his profile. He had fun interests including baking, which stood out to me a lot. He was handsome and seemed interesting. His profession is illustration. This was intriguing. I was curious to know how he made a living at it.

We exchanged phone numbers and set up a date for January 12, 2013.

The night before our first date there was a terrible snow storm. I had a date that night in downtown SLC. I took TRAX to avoid having to drive in such impassible conditions. It was pretty slushy and wet outside.

Saturday morning the sun was shining, but snow still threatened. Lance (Fryman) texted me to ask how I felt about driving on slick roads. I told him I didn't think the roads were bad and that I thought we ought to still go ahead with the date. The plan was to meet halfway between us in Lehi. (Lance lives in Orem, and I am in West Jordan). After a little deliberation, we agreed that we'd go ahead and do the date.

I arrived in Lehi at JCW burgers around 12:55PM. I found a spot to sit at a table facing the doorway so I could watch for Lance to arrive. I texted my little brother telling him about how anxiety can increase drastically in such situations. Every time someone walked in the restaurant my stomach leaped wondering if it was him. I hoped I'd be able to recognize him from his picture. Around 1:07 I spotted someone outside and was pretty sure it was him. I took a few deep breaths and waited for him to come in the restaurant. When he came in, we made eye contact and acknowledged that we were who the other was looking for. (foreshadowing haha)

We ordered our food then found a table to sit down. We went through the usual "getting to know you" questions. I found out that we have very similar families. We both come from families of seven children. We are both the sixth child. We are both the only single ones left in our families. He has 21 nieces and nephews, I have 20.

The date went very well. We ended up going to see a movie together right after lunch. We saw Les Miserable. After the movie, we parted ways.

Once I got home we texted some and decided we wanted to see each other again, and soon. Lance asked if I'd come down to Orem in exchange for him cooking me dinner. I took the deal. After a quick jaunt at the temple, I raced down to Orem to see him again.

Since that day, every spare moment has been spent together. We talk every day, FaceTime, text, chat or whatever means we can. We see each other as often as possible.

On February 14, 2013 I was feeling blue because I knew I wouldn't get to see my sweetheart on Valentine's Day. I had school that night which would go late, so it wouldn't be practical for me to see him. At work I felt quite sad, to the point of tears. Around 3:00pm, a special delivery arrived in my office. Lance had sent me flowers. I was so overwhelmed by his thoughtfulness. I called him to thank him for the flowers and tell him how much I loved him. It totally made my day, though I was still distraught by not being able to see him.

I went to school and sat through the longest class of my life. Lance texted me throughout the class to see how I was doing. Finally just before 9pm I left to go home. I called Lance right after I got out of class. He asked if he could call me back in a few minutes. So I started for home and waited for his call. He finally did call back and we talked for a while as I made my way out to West Jordan. Shortly before arriving home he asked me if it would be alright if I called him back once I got home.

When I pulled into my driveway I noticed the light in the spare room turn off. I didn't really think much of it at the time. I went inside, finally home after a very long day. I put together some hot chocolate and a bowl of cereal then told my parents I was going to go talk to my man on the phone.

I went downstairs and called Lance with FaceTime. When he answered he was in the dark. I told him to turn on the lights. Right away I noticed some things that were off. He still had his coat on and he was not in his house. He was in MY house! He came downstairs and greeted me. I was so thrilled to see him! He told me that he had a friend who needed a ride somewhere and asked if I'd like to come with him. (I can be really clueless sometimes) I said that'd be fine, so after taking some time to pack for an upcoming weekend to Oregon, we headed out.

He had parked his car on the next street over. So sneaky. We drove down 4000 West towards South Jordan. I mentioned that the temple was on this road. He acted like he didn't know that, which I thought was weird. He asked if I wanted to stop and walk around a bit. That seemed like a nice idea so he pulled in. There was a couple right at the front of the temple getting engaged. I laughed to myself thinking, well that isn't why WE are here. (really. Clueless)

We got out and walked a bit until we stopped at a spot near the gate. Lance turned to face me and held my hand. It was then that I knew what was going to happen. The other couple came walking past and made things a bit crowded, so we walked down a little ways to another spot. The rest is somewhat of a daze in my mind. Lance knelt down on one knee, told me he loved me and asked me to marry him. And I said YES!

When we went back to the car I asked "So, does your friend still need a ride?". Really people. I can be so out of it sometimes. Lance just laughed and said that it was all just a story. I learned fairly early on that he likes to tease. I should've known. We went home and announced it to my parents who were totally in on it.

This past weekend I went with Lance to Ontario Oregon to meet my future in-laws. I had the warmest welcome in the world. They all treated me so kindly. It was the most enjoyable weekend ever. I couldn't be happier about my future with Lance. I cannot wait to become Mrs. Fry this May.

When Fashion Happens

I love those mornings when you look through what you have in your closet and put together a whole new look that totally works. Today was one of those days.

Lydia

This cutie is the happiest little girl I've ever met. I am such a lucky aunt. I love how she'll run up to me and hug my legs or say my name. It makes me excited to be a mom someday.

Life's Unexpected Awesomeness

For years people have told me that when it comes to love, it will happen when you least expect it. I would always think to myself, how exactly does one NOT expect it? For young single adults in the LDS church dating and marriage is pounded and pressed into your life week after week. I understand the reasons, but it doesn't make this time of life any easier. One has to constantly be on their best behavior at all times just in case this moment is that "unexpected moment". Its very exhausting.

One Saturday I was having one of those days of exhaustion. I had been on several first dates without much promise. I had one scheduled for that day. It was the last of a long line of scheduled dates. I went into it with the attitude of just enjoying it for what it would be and having a good time. We'd agreed to eat at JCW Burgers. I hadn't had a hamburger in weeks, so if nothing else, I'd get a yummy burger out of it. What came next fulfilled that prophecy that everyone claims.....What happened next was not expected at all. I met the most incredible man and I could not be happier!

Privileged

Have you ever had the opportunity to observe a master of the kitchen at work? I'm talking someone who really knows their stuff? I have. And I must say it is beyond anything I could have ever imagined. How is it possible for one person to be so vastly talented? I only hope that I'll get to stick around him long enough to learn a little myself, as my cooking skills are seriously sketchy.

Winter

One of the things I love about living in Utah is the change in seasons. I love seeing the world evolve and grow around me. HOWEVER.....
This winter has been brutal. I'm all for snow as long as the roads get plowed, but the temperatures have been rigidly low. I don't think the temperature has been above freezing in weeks. Being outside is the most unhappy part of my day. The sky is clouded with smog and the air is so cold it feels like its stabbing you in the nose. I normally don't have any problems with Winter, I was born in the winter, but I hope this cold spell breaks soon. I'm not sure how much longer I can take it.
Thank goodness for hot chocolate.

Diary of a Cold Virus

Dear Diary,

Several days ago I spotted a lovely girl who would make a fine home for me for a while. I jumped at the chance to settle in her throat. My time there was most productive, I was able to inflame it and make it sore for nearly three days. That is a record! As usual I quickly got bored with living in just the throat, so I decided to venture on to more cavernous surroundings.

The nasal cavity is such a cozy place, especially once I decorate. I fluff it up with stuff to make it nice and homey. I typically stay in this area for a good long while. I want to make sure that I am remembered when I have to leave.

Usually my course of travel is somewhat unhindered, but this girl has put up quite a fight. She exercises nearly every day which totally messes up what I've done in the nasal cavity. I do get my satisfaction from the coughing, however. It helps me know for sure that my presence is well known.

I'd like to stay for a while longer, but something tells me, my host is going to shortly evict me. I'll hang on as long as possible, but I know the time will come when I must vacate the premises. Even though I will be sad to go, I know I will often be remembered.

Sincerely,

The Common Cold

Climbing the Ladder

In 2010 I was accepted into the University of Utah.
In 2011 I was accepted into Pre-Business
In 2012 I was accepted into Business Administration (upper division status)
In 2013 I was accepted into the School of Accounting

I am officially an accounting major! This process seems to be taking forever, but by small and simple things, great things come to pass. Onward and upward!
